I came into the University Writing Program with a mindset that I was not a good writer due to my previous writing experiences. As classes went by and I started to learn more about using outlines, how to write different types of essays, and using the LDP Vocabulary entry essay on writing experience expand my vocabulary, essay on writing experience. When I was given my first writing prompt I thought I would do something different and use an outline for the first time.
I felt that using an outline worked very well for me as it helped me organize essay on writing experience ideas into different paragraphs which would then turn out to be a great essay. Aside from using outlines, I learned that an exceptional essay is not about how long it is rather it is about addressing your audience, essay on writing experience, addressing the prompt, and having concrete information that supports your thesis. Although I faced plenty of hardships from not addressing the prompt to not having enough background information while writing my essays I feel that it has only helped me in becoming a better writer.

The first essay I chose to include is my Literacy Narrative because it was an essay that was both easy and difficult to write. It also showcases my struggles as a writer before taking this class and how I continue to show my improvement today. Having a Literacy Narrative as my first writing assignment for this class made it easy for me to write because I had the opportunity to write about my personal experience more specifically, about someone what had impacted my writing.
I enjoyed writing about this topic because I was able to write about myself which allowed me to reflect essay on writing experience my past experiences and truly see things in a different way.
However, the challenge I faced while writing my Literacy Narrative was the formatting of my paragraphs as well as sentence composition. In addition to not knowing how to phrase some of my thoughts, I had trouble with focusing on the main purpose of the essay rather than getting bugged up on the little things; for instance, some comments I got on my essay were to address what feedback I got from Ms. Mills as well as what she taught me about writing.
While writing this essay I learned how useful an outline can be. Using an outline allowed me to figure out where I wanted certain information to go and it helped my essay flow better. The second essay I chose is very different from the first, it is a research paper about the different logos Starbucks has had over the past 40 years and how Starbucks has had a cultural impact on society.
This essay showcases my ability to be creative with my topic choice as well as being informative in my wrtining. Before starting my researched I made an outline of how I wanted my essay to look, essay on writing experience. I knew that I would have an introduction, a paragraph about Starbucks, paragraphs about the different logos, and my conclusion being Starbucks impacts on culture.
While researching information about this topic, it was brought to my attention that Starbucks logos had more than one change. It only made me even more interested in this topic. Although the topic was very interesting, I did have some difficulties. Essay on writing experience times looking for sources because there would only be one to two sentences that would answer my question but I needed more information to support my point.
Another difficulty I had was finding different sources because most of my information were on the Starbucks website. Some things I found interesting about my sources were that there have been four Starbucks logos and I only knew about the last two. It put things into perspective for me, as I too agreed with those women. Something that also caught my attention was how Starbucks started off as a coffee shop that only sold coffee bean packages and the only reason they would brew coffee was for coffee samples and for their employees.
